Sac County Abstract Company was incorporated in 1905 by a handful of men who saw the need to create a service to accommodate the transferal of land ownership from one party to another. Abstracting became one spoke of the wheel in the world of real estate transactions to ensure all rights were protected under Iowa law.

Grace Green joined in 1940 at the age of 20 years. She continued to work for the Company for the next 73 years, working her way through just about every situation and awful legal description imaginable. Becoming a widow at the age of 37 with three young children, she was dedicated to both her family and her work and somehow managed to find the time to excel being both a mother and a woman running a business in a "Man's" world. Because of her leadership, the company thrived and continued to grow. Jeani Green, Grace's daughter-in-law, joined the Abstract company in 1975 and continued with the company for 50 years.

After serving as an employee of the Abstract Company for 25 years, Wendy Petersen took over ownership and operation of the company in 2025. Wendy is an Iowa Land Title Association-Certified Land Titled Professional, and currently serves on the Iowa Land Title Association’s Abstracting Standards Committee and Legislative Committee, keeping her up to date on the ever-changing matters affecting the land title industry in Iowa. With a vast knowledge of Sac County properties, Wendy and her team are ready to assist in all your land title needs.
